Brewers Still Need Bullpen Help
Lance_davis_small-medium 05:25 PM on Sunday Jul 20, 2008

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported earlier today that the Brewers acquired veteran Ray Durham from San Francisco for two minor leaguers. Maybe we've finally seen that last of Rickie Weeks in the leadoff spot. At least Brewer fans will have another option.

Durham is hitting .293 this season with 3 home runs and 32 RBI for the Giants. Maybe the 36 year old's presence will push Weeks to be the true player he can be. Durham might be a defensive liablity but I'm willing to sacrifice that for a leadoff batter that brings offensive stability.

As much as I like the Durham trade, I still think Doug Melvin needs to add a set-up guy for his bullpen. Guillermo Mota and Eric Gagne have had enough chances. The Brewers are still one good reliever away from making a serious run for a World Series championship.
